The saga continues. We found problems when we examined the rear-end in my car last time, and now I have all of the parts needed to rebuild it. We are meeting tomorrow, Wednesday the 29th @ 9:00 a.m., at the Auto Hobby Shop on Marine Corps Air Station Miramar.

What the heck is going on with the rear-end in my car!? I guess we'll all find out together this Saturday as MustangCWO (Todd) will be on hand to help figure it out!

I had the gears replaced about 2000 miles ago, and recently started hearing an odd continuous noise from the back of the car at all speeds and under both accel/decel. Doh!

You're welcome to join us at the Miramar Auto Hobby Shop. This is an opportunity for folks to get a better understanding of how these things work, and what to do when they don't.

The Auto Hobby Shop is across from the gas station near the Main Gate on Miramar Way at Kearney Villa Road. It's location #3 on the BASE MAP

I know it's late notice, and some folks are stuck at work (or out of town for the holidays), but I could use all of the help I can get! Todd is working in the AM, and will probably arrive around Noon. I'd like to have the whole thing apart before he gets there, so we'll get started right when the hobby shop opens at 0900.

Thanks!

Cancelled, due to the weather. I will try to reschedule this soon. At least the problem doesn't seem to be getting worse.

Rescheduled for Thursday the 30th of December. The good thing is that E will be available to help us out this time.

We were shooting for Thurs, but will not be doing this until after I buy a new set of gears. It will probably have to wait until some weekend in January.

I have what seems to be a bearing noise coming from the rear of the car. Could be wheel, or pinion, or carrier?

The gears were installed by Woodside Automotive about 2500 miles ago. The backlash is way off, and there has been a howling on decel from day one; I'm not sure about the cause of the bearing noise yet. I took it back to them, but they would not even look at it. The 90 day warranty had expired...

I don't want to take any chances, so I will re-do the whole thing, including the gears.

Do not put used gears in your car Dave! Go with a set of 4:10's you will love them. I also recomend you getting a set of Ford racing gears.

I have 3.73's in it now. I don't want to go to 3.55's.

Looks like we'll schedule this for a Saturday in January.
