Its warming up here and my engine bay and engine is dirty from the winter season. I was wondering what products you you use and how do you clean your engine and engine bay?

At the shop we use the purple power degreaser in a spray bottle. Mix it with water of course. Spray on cool engine. Let it soak and rinse. Redo if need.

do i need to cover anything up (intake obviously) or leave it running

Cover the intake and around the coils. Just don't want any water going near them. If you can use air pressure to dry after wetting. You don't want the thing running during or after. Let it dry first.

so with this being said. whats a good way to go about.

a.) covering the coils, filter and such

B.) cleaning the engine bay.

i ask because normal things that come to mind seem like they wouldnt work too well. like a rag or towl. it would still get sopping wet and would at that point do no good. and a water hose or pressure washer seem like theyd do the job but at the same time would start taking their toll on other electrical connections.
