Phase One is to make a good performance car credible, then to phase in commuter and other electric cars available at a reasonable price. They say they routinely travel L.A. to San Francisco, and have done cross-country trips with no problems. Just requires a little pre-planning for stops at established recharging stations, or longer delays at non-220-enabled places. It takes about three hours for a full charge from 220, longer from 110.
Daughter and son-in-law at the wheel of a $160K roadster. Neck-snapping acceleration with all 300 pounds-feet of torque available from zero RPM to top speed of 125, electronically limited. Decent handling, 250+ miles per "fill up", excellent build quality.
