Invite friends to come hang out in the Pits, the Bleachers and in my rented garage space for the weekend? Also, there will be a dedicated Auto X Day going on right next door! (See track map / picture)
What to expect:
Some fast ass cars. You can expect a really nice racetrack facility (NASCAR uses it), a great BBQ spot on site, and/or a good food truck, easy access from the 15 freeway, and a generally awesome day... if you're into cars.
Logistically, what to expect:
Big Track aka Roval: Driver's safety meeting at 7:30 or 8:00. Cars will start running shortly thereafter. There is usually four sessions for each run group which means there will be cars running until 5:00pm.
Auto X: Continuous cars running the course with plenty of parking and room to watch. There's no shade in that area, so bring an EZ Up if you wanna spend some time there.
Parking: there are parking spaces adjacent to the rented garages (G1, G2, G3), but if you get there after 8:00 or 9:00, there is parking along the fenceline and AutoX area on the other side of the garages. (See picture/track map).
Commute time: 1.5 hours from San Diego.
Ride alongs: *Helmet required* If you get there after 10am, that leaves me only 2 more sessions to give ride alongs (Saturday). (I'd say 3 more sessions, but I'm having an instructor for one session). On Sunday, I won't have an instructor, so I'll have one additional session open. If more than five people ask, I'd like to give priority to people who really want to drive this course someday.
Potential new drivers: For those who might want to try driving this course, I'm sure they'll let you sit in and "observe" the Beginner Run Group's Driving Meetings. They have "download" meetings in a classroom setting in between sessions. It's a great learning experience.
Hanging out: Bring a camera, chair, water bottles, cash for food.
Hotel: Holiday Inn in Ontario which is about 5 minutes from the track. Friday night and Saturday night.
Cost:
Free to hangout and walk the pits, bleachers, etc.
$10 at the gate for guests (and me too.)
$75 to drive the AutoX course all day.
$180 to drive on track; $165 for Beginner Run Group.
$50 for an instructor (one session)
Gas: There's a Chevron a 1/4 mile away before you arrive at the track.
