my flightning

hay yall, ive been having just a bit of a problem with the flightning. and since i really know nothing about trucks, or auto trannies i figured id throw it up and get some advice from some truck guys on here.

the problem is, when the truck is cold and im driving, i have three problems.

1) the tranny doesnt like to shift. itll shift if it gets high enough rpm, but it wont shift normally, and then when it does shift itll shift like we'll say from 2nd to third, then itll drop all the way back down to 1st surge, and then shift back up to three.

2) i get no speedo signal

3) my overdrive off light turns on.

now, im thinking that all these problems are connected in some way, because theyll all start and stop at the same time, this problem only occures when the truck is cold, and stops after like 5 mins of driving. the shifting doesnt happen too severely all the time when its cold, but it is an issue that id like to resolve.

oh and a side note. i do have a few codes ill throw out there.

first is the standard p1000
second was a egr code, insufficient flow
third was speed sensor voltage fault
fourth was speed sensor no signal

so that being said, im sure i do need to replace the speed sensor which could cause my speedo fault that i have, but this problem never happens other than when the truck is cold along with these other problems!

get the trany flushed and filters changed. its got like a million miles on it doesnt it. prolly needs some new fluid.

if that doesnt fix it, it could be time for a rebuild. i had a similar issue with slipage when my transmission on my pontiac was cold. it woudlnt shift right. after the fluid was flushed and changed it went away. i had considerably less miles/wear on it too...

nice man,,, thanks. i was thinking that probably had something to do with it. not too many people think to look at the fluid in their trannies!! when i baught the cobra. i told the dealership i wanted them to change every filter and fluid in it before i drove it off the lot including the tranny fluid. and they said sir. the cobra has a stick. manual transmissions dont have any fluid in them. i said. u just proved how retarted you really are. now go put the car on the lift and take out the plug in the tranny. he did and gave me the worst look. at that point i made sure i looked over the car very carefully before i drove off with it. to ensure their stupidity wasnt the result of any other problems i would have. although at that point i was lookin more at the chasis than the motor or tranny knowing that they would both be coming out in the near future any way!

but any way thanks man. ill probably have the truck on jack stands this weekend changing that speed sensor, lookin at the corresponding wiring, and changing the tranny and its fluids!! lets see if that fixes the problem.
