There's a chance of rain for the next few days. Will post up here if they decide to cancel.
If it stays dry, I'm planning to race. I'd like to get a trophy in the new 8.5 second class.

I'll try to make it. I'm getting the keys to my new place today. I'm going to try to move some things in and get ready for my move tomorrow.

Insanity is repeating the same mistakes and expecting different results. I don't know why I thought it would be any better out there last night?
The funniest thing was when I loaded all my stuff back into the trunk of my car, and had Jared riding shotgun. My car weighs about 3450 lbs. So with me, Jared and some stuff in the trunk I'm guessing we're at about 3950 lbs on the line. In cool air, I have about 300rwhp. I'm running 305/35r18 M/T DR II's @ 18lbs. I tried launching in second gear. Of course I could not just leave off-idle , and I brought the revs up to about 2000 rpm (stall converter flashes to 3200 rpm). Tires immediately break traction, and the tach goes to 4000 rpm, which is like 35 mph. Only the car is standing still. It was all a bad dream...

Until I remembered I was at a parking lot, and not a race track. With an evil concrete launch pad, and some nincompoop putting down water for pointless burnouts; I'm just glad no one wrecked their car last night.

Almost none of the high-powered trailered cars were out, and the few that did show up only ran once, maybe twice. So here is the official memo:

To whom it may concern -

On the website for Race Legal Street Legal Drag Racing held at Qualcomm Stadium, they advertise their use of VHT for the purpose of preparing the track surface for vehicles running racing slicks. This is a LIE.

Please be advised, save your gas, tires, and money. Do not go to these events expecting to find a prepared racing surface with any kind of decent traction. It is WORSE than any normal "un-prepped" road surface. Even if you bring your own very sticky racing tires, it is INSANE to expect any hook-up off the line. It might even seem as if they did NOTHING to prepare the track, except to setup some cones, a porta-tree, and some timing lights, then stand at the gate and start charging money. To Race. On a Track. Which this is NOT.

It's funny until someone gets hurt. My guess is that will happen sooner than later. You can be sure it will not be me. No Más!!

I was there last night around 10:00pm, I guess everybody left by then. I did see them using the torches on the side of the track where you run slicks. Did see some cool cars though. Sorry I missed you guys.

Amen. I went once at the beginning of te year. I'd never been and didn't see the wet starting line. First run I almost put my car in the wall immediately off the line.

I went back to this event on the 16th and would spin trying to leave like I Lear a stop light. I may go back to hang out with the club, but you won't catch me dead on this "track" again.

The track is geared toward the torqueless imports, not our V8s. Let them have their Friday night, I won't be there.
