Some of you guys may have heard, I was involved in a car accident on June 28, 2013.
Lia and I were heading home from work in our separate mustangs, Lia was following behind me. Just before pulling into our neighborhood I was signaling to make a left hand turn and began turning left when I was hit on my driver side (T-boned) by a Chevy blazer who was attempting to pass us (CHP estimated his speed at 65-70 MPH when he hit me). Once my car came to a stop I noticed that the other driver stepped on the gas and started to drive away. Luckily Lia noticed and immediately followed him to take down his plates and stop him.
When I saw this all I could think about was getting out of the car and chasing him down. My door wouldn't open so I had to climb out the window. I didn't notice but I had dislocated my arm during the accident. Once my hand touched the ground from climbing out, I relocated my arm. He ended up coming to a stop, due to his right tire that had blown out. I ran towards the guys car and told him to get out of the car and get on the ground. Once He was there, we made sure he didn't get away. Thankfully some people passing by stopped and offered some help to insure that this guy wouldn't try and run again.
Once CHP (California Highway Patrol), fire, and ambulance arrived I was taken to the hospital and the guy was taken in hand cuffs by CHP for Felony DUI, Felony Hit & Run one other charge. The dislocated shoulder is the worst of my injuries and I'm happy to say that I walked away from this. I'm sad to say that my Mustang took all the damage and was totaled. The only thing that makes me happy is knowing that it saved my life and I could be in worse shape if It hadn't been for my car.
I'll be climbing back into another Stang as soon as I'm back up and running!
Drive safely out there everyone! It's not always within our control as to what happens but trust that your Stang will take care of you if you take care of it!
