I do love a good show, and this one seems like it has the proper ingredients. The only thing for me, is the timing.
I know quite a few of us are looking forward to going back out to Chuckwalla Valley Raceway, the open track road course in Desert Center.

Since the track is closing for the Summer, the next opportunity for us to go will be in either September or October. Well, guess what?
The two weekends they've scheduled are September 10-11 and October 1-2.

That means some of us will have to choose to attend either this show vs Mustangs by the Bay vs Chuckwalla. Theoretically it should be possible to do both, drive the track on Saturday, then show the car on Sunday. For me, someone who has never won a show trophy, well, I'll be at the track!

Thank you for registering for the 2011 Greatest Show on Turf. This is your “official” confirmation!! Here is the latest scoop on what’s happening for the day:
*We are attempting to make the parking process as “painless” as possible. We will start loading cars in at 7:00 a.m. (not before – if you come early and have to wait in the street PLEASE do not get upset) – this will allow the vendors to get off loaded and set in place before the rush of cars begin. While in line you will be asked if you are “pre-registered or not”– then given a colored dot (green for pre-registered; red for not) and asked to proceed and allow the parking committee to “do their thing”. Once parked and settled please come to the registration table to retrieve your goodie bag or pay for your day of show registration. NEW NOTE: we are now equipped to take credit cards for payments on the day of show and merchandise sold by the museum. Purchases for the 50/50 and opportunity drawings will be cash only.
*At 10:00 a.m. we ask that all engines be silenced, hats are removed and all attention be directed to the middle of the lawn area. There will be small ceremony in honor of “Patriot Day” which recognizes the people who were killed on September 11, 2001 and those left behind to pick up the pieces of their shattered lives.
*All pop-ups need to be secured with bungees or with a very heavy object (bricks are good) be aware if your pop-up takes flight and damages other cars you are responsible.
*Please be sure to have a fire extinguisher in your vehicle in case of any emergencies.
*We ask (plead actually) for the safety sake of all - to remain parked until the end of the show (we are shooting for our 2:00 show conclusion) - trophy awards are scheduled to begin at 1:15 p.m.
*Please no “for sale” signs.
*No glass containers of any kind in or around the car show site.
We thank you for your commitment to join us for our festivities and with your cooperation our show will live up to its name – “The Greatest Show on Turf”

Are we going to meet at Bennigans? I am planning on driving in from Yuma on Sat and staying overnight and then going to the show.
